To realize a harmonious coexistence of humans and nature is the shared responsibility of each country on the planet. Guided by the vision of  "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets,"  China has played its part in creating a clean and beautiful world in a sustainable way.

    Between 2000 and 2017, China's newly added vegetation comprised about one quarter of the growth in global green areas, contributing the most among all countries, according to a white paper released by the State Council Information Office in 2021.

    By far, China has established the largest clean power generation system, and promised that the country will no longer build new coal-fired power projects overseas.

    In addition, China and 31 partners have involved themselves in the Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on Green Development, joining hands to tackle environmental challenges.

    In cooperation with other countries, China has also worked hard on the protection of biodiversity.

    Along the Chinese-built Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway in Africa, there are a total of 14 large wildlife passages and 79 bridges, ensuring the height of all the bridges and passages is more than 6.5 meters so that large animals such as elephants and giraffes can get through.

    The Kunming Declaration was adopted at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), held in Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan province in October 2021, launching a new journey towards the full realization of the 2050 Vision of "Living in Harmony with Nature."

    China also announced that the country would invest 1.5 billion RMB to establish the Kunming Biodiversity Fund to support biodiversity protection in developing countries.

    China's efforts in creating a better environment for all have been widely recognized. As early as 2013, the UN Environment Program (UNEP) passed a draft decision on promoting China's notion of ecological civilization and released a report named Green is Gold: The Strategy and Actions of China's Ecological Civilization in 2016.

    The Earth is the common home of humankind, and China is becoming a world leader in promoting biodiversity and protecting its environment.
