  Planetarium at Roof of the World

  The construction of a planetarium began in China's Xizang Autonomous Region on June 12. The planetarium at the world's highest altitude will be equipped with the world's largest refractive optical telescope with a one-meter-diameter lens. It is expected to be completed and open by June 2024.

  FAST Detects Fast Radio Burst

  China's FAST telescope has discovered and localized a highly active, repeating Fast Radio Burst (FRB) called FRB 20190520B in a metal -poor dwarf galaxy nearly three billion light-years from Earth, according to the study published on June 8 in the journal Nature.

  Super-large Global Climate Dataset

  Institute of Atmospheric Physics of CAS has developed a climate system model FGOALS-g3 and produced a super-large ensemble simulation dataset with 110 members, which can accurately represent historically observed climate data, and be further used for climate prediction and climate change research.

  Important Discovery of Potato Genome Sequences

  An international team led by Chinese researchers have mapped out high-quality genome sequences for 44 wild and cultivated potatoes, and found a pivotal gene which can accelerate hybrid potato breeding in the future, according to the study published in the journal Nature.
