Launch of Internet Satellites Marks 573rd Mission
China successfully sent a new group of low Earth orbit satellites from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in southern Hainan province on April 29. The satellite group, the third of its kind that will constitute an Internet constellation, was launched at 4:10 am (Beijing time) aboard a Long March-5B carrier rocket with a Yuanzheng-2 (Expedition-2) upper stage atop the rocket.
China Tops in Hydrogen Production and Consumption
According to a report by the National Energy Administration, China's total hydrogen production and consumption exceeded 36.5 million tons in 2024, ranking first in the world. By the end of 2024, the global installed capacity for renewable hydrogen production had surpassed 250,000 tons per year, with China accounting for more than 50 percent of that capacity.
First High-Speed Submersible Unmanned Vessel Launched
The "Blue Whale," a cutting-edge high-speed submersible unmanned surface vessel, was launched in Zhuhai, Guangdong province on April 28. This cutting-edge vessel, 11 meters long and weighing 12 metric tons, offers rapid response to emergencies and efficient application in meteorology, underwater mapping and photography.
