Chinese researchers have developed a novel self-cleaning electrode by constructing a micro-nanostructure of a highly active catalyst, achieving highly stable synthesis of alkaline-earth metal peroxides. This study was published in Nature Nanotechnology on October 28.
China's Amphibious AG600 Completes Flight Test
China's AG600 large amphibious aircraft passed an airworthiness validation flight test of its minimum unstick speed on October 25, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has announced. The AG600 amphibious aircraft family is China's first independently developed, large-sized, special-purpose civil aircraft family.
'Chengdu-made' Humanoid Robot Debuts
The Konka-1, an ultra-lightweight humanoid robot developed by the Chengdu Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, was launched on October 28. It is the world's lightest humanoid robot, weighing only 25 kilograms, and can carry a maximum load of 5.5 kilograms. It also has the longest battery life of up to eight hours.
Polar Bears Face Higher Risk of Disease
As the Arctic warms, polar bears face a growing risk of contracting viruses, bacteria and parasites that they were less likely to encounter just 30 years ago, according to a study published in the scientific journal PLOS One on October 23. Wildlife biologist Karyn Rode from the U.S. Geological Survey said it showed that something was changing throughout the whole Arctic ecosystem.
Emissions Gap Report 2024 Released
The Emissions Gap Report 2024 released by the United Nations Environment Programme on October 24 says the current climate policies will lead to an average global temperature rise of more than 3°C by the end of the century compared to pre-industrial times, more than double the global temperature rise target set in the 2015 Paris Agreement.
