  Second Near-Earth Asteroid Found

  On November 7, the Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences reported that it has discovered a second near-Earth asteroid, temporarily named 2023 VB2. This is possibly the closest asteroid to Earth discovered by Chinese scientists.

  5G Application Thrives in China

  The China Internet Development Report 2023 was released at the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit on November 8. By June 2023, a total of 2.937 million 5G base stations had been constructed and put into use, with 676 million 5G mobile phone users, said the report.

  China's BDS Application Rises

  The BeiDou navigation services have witnessed rapid development over the past decade, according to the China BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) Industry Development Index Report released on November 9. About 23 million terminal devices in China were using BDS as of the first half of 2023, an increase of more than 7.27 million over the same period last year.

  Largest Offshore Wind Turbine off Assembly Line

  The world's most powerful offshore wind turbine with 18 MW capacity rolled off the assembly line in Fuqing, southeast China's Fujian province on November 10. Consisting of over 30,000 components, the wind turbine has 126-meter-long blades that can sweep an area of 53,000 m2.
