The Yaogan-40, a new remote-sensing satellite, was launched into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi province on September 10. The satellite will be used to conduct electromagnetic environment detection and technical tests.

The number of orders for the C919 plane, a China-developed large passenger aircraft, had reached 1,061, according to He Dongfeng, board chairman of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China on September 10. He said the aircraft maker has already delivered two jets to its customers.

A Chinese team has grown, for the first time in the world, early kidneys from human stem cells inside pig embryos. Such an advance will open a new channel to kidney transplants and studying human kidney development, according to a study published on September 7 in the journal Cell Stem Cell.
