350km/h Bullet Trains Go International
By Staff Reporters

China completed production and testing of high-speed bullet trains for Indonesian Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) in Qingdao, Shandong province on August 5.

This is the first-ever export of China's high-speed bullet trains with a designed maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The 142-kilometer Jakarta-Bandung HSR, a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is the first high-speed railway project launched overseas that fully uses Chinese technology, standards and equipment.

Based on the advanced and mature technology of the Fuxing bullet trains, the trains for Jakarta-Bandung HSR, including 11 electric multiple unit (EMU) trains and one inspection train, carried out adaptive improvement in accordance with the local environment and operating conditions in Indonesia.

The EMU trains adopt intelligent sensing technology and are equipped with earthquake monitoring and an early warning system. Through more than 2,500 detection points covering the whole train, all key systems can be monitored in real time.

To improve energy efficiency and low-carbon operation, the train is designed with a streamlined head and smooth body shape, which helps to reduce air resistance. Meanwhile, technology is adopted to realize energy regeneration from the braking system.

The train also adopts high-standard corrosion-resistant design and advanced protection technology, making it more resistant to salt spray and ultraviolet radiation prevalent in local weather conditions.

As for the inspection train of Jakarta-Bandung HSR, it integrates detection equipment for railway tracks, overhead catenary and communication signals, which will provide reliable support for the safe operation of the EMU trains.
