The world's largest container ship, the Ever Alot, has been delivered to its client Evergreen in Shanghai, with a capacity of 24,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). As a first of its kind, the gigantic ship is 399.99 m long and 61.5 m broad.It was designed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, with completely independent intellectual property rights. According to the shipbuilder, the container ship adopts the hydrodynamic optimization technology, which enables it to carry heavy cargo at high speed. (Photo by Zhang Li) |
